Design Ideas
For an outstanding "Secret Hideaway", pick a private spot, surround it with shrubs and trees, lay a path to it, frame a view to the yard, and add a nice focal point like a fountain or statue.
Do It Yourself
Don't be afraid to dig up and move plants. Just dig out as huge a root ball as possible. Also, pre-dig the new hole first. This will minimize the amount of time the plant is out of the ground. We move Hostas around all the time to get the right combinations.
Stretch your Dollars
Find a friend or neighbor who has pine trees. Offer to rake their needles and bag them up. You can use them for paths or to mulch your beds. Pine needles stay put and last a long time.
Plant List
Hosta assortment. "Ukigumo" Japanese Maple behind the birdbath. The blue flowering ground cover is "Blue Moon" Woodland Phlox. "Oak Leaf" Hydrangea is to the right of the bench.
