Discover how how easy it is for you to join in the fun with the new botanical center being built at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park at 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield, MO. Stop by, this is a fun and friendly group of people who love and appreciate the gardens.

Friends of the Garden has been working for a decade to make the new Botanical Center a reality. The Center's construction costs are being met by $3 million from a 2006 voter approved parks sales tax, as well as funds raised by Friends of the Garden.

Now that the building fund is complete, they can concentrate on growing and maintaining the 45 gardens that will be included at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. 21 of the gardens are already in place.

The group also created the Butterfly House at Close Memorial Park and held the first annual Butterly Festival last year. If you would like to volunteer but aren't able to work in the gardens, there are plenty of ongoing opportunities available. Tell us what you're interested in and we'll be happy to work with you. You might be pleasantly surprised! No training required, just an appreciation of gardens.

Each meeting features a guest speaker on a garden related topic for a fun and educational opportunity. We look forward to seeing you there!
